The Farm Yard Llama Project

The Farm Yard

Llama Project

Wag ‘n Bietjie Camp Site and The Farm Yard was established in 1997. As a family run business, we have been able to provide excellent service to the numerous schools, church and other groups that have visited us during the past 23 years. Our workforce consists of 35 full-time employees and a further 4 part-time employees. In total we support about 70 people directly through our business.

Covid-19 has a severe impact on businesses in South Africa. Our two businesses have been no exception and these past few months have truly been extremely challenging for us. As a direct result of the lockdown regulations we have had no business or income from clients since mid-March 2020. We are unsure when our industry will be allowed to return to normal – especially as our clients consists primarily of schools and churches. The Department of Education has cancelled all excursions for the remainder of the 2020 academic year, thereby effectively cutting off about 95% of our income.

This placed us in the position where we had to look for alternative means of funding. Despite numerous applications we have unfortunately not been able to secure any additional funding in terms of loans etc. Banks are unwilling to lend money to businesses within the Hospitality Industry as there is no way in which they can forecast when the industry will return to normal. We have cut our monthly expenses as far as possible, but the fixed costs remain quite high.

In a bid to ensure the survival of both Wag ‘n Bietjie Camp and The Farm Yard we have decided to launch a project called “The Farm Yard Llama Project”. The purpose of funds collected in this way is to enable us to keep taking care of our animals and help with the monthly expenses we still need to pay. It will also help us to ensure that both The Farm Yard and Wag ‘n Bietjie Camp will be able to welcome many more school learners and other visitors in future.

We would thus like to invite you to become part of “The Farm Yard Llama Project” by donating an amount of R 200.00 per month to the project for the next 6 months. Our banking details for the project are as follows:

All sponsors of this project who contribute for these months will be acknowledged as a donor to the Llama Project on a sign that will be put up at The Farm Yard in 2021. Furthermore, as a Thank You, three Sundays in 2021 will be identified where these donors and their families can come and enjoy our terrain and look at the animals totally free of charge. These Sundays will be opened exclusively to donors as we are normally not open to the general public.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your consideration. For more information on our businesses please visit our website at www.wagnbietjiecamp.co.za or our Facebook pages “Wag ‘n Bietjie Camp Site” or “The Farm Yard/Die Plaaswerf”.

Thank you
